When travelling in the Kimberley, a magnet for us is the Dampier Peninisula where the bleached land meets the ocean and matte green mangroves compliment the vibrating reds and ochres of the cliffs, which in turn contrast with the dazzling white sands and intense turquoise waters.
This vision brought to my mind the woven fish traps our first aboriginal inhabitants have used over tens of thousands of years to provide food for their tribal communities living in these amazing coastal locations in the northwest of Western Australia.
My image accentuates the blazing sun which is prevalent in the region for much of the year and shows the curious interest in the fish trap of our much sought after barramundi fish. This fishing device may lead to their capture, thus providing delicious meals for the community.
