Sense the powerful energy of Western Australia’s Karijini when you venture deep into its centre, riddled with 2.5 billion-year-old gorges. These gorges of ancient rock, cool swimming holes and showering waterfalls make Karijini National Park one of Australia’s most dramatic and spectacular destinations.
When we descended over the rim into the cool depths of Dales Gorge, overawed, I could not resist sitting in the lotus position of meditation, feeling the ancient spirits gazing down from the glowing red walls, absorbing the power from the sun, tranquility from the moon, listening to the cascading Fortescue and Fern pool falls.
My painting shows a yellow halo adorning the Meditator. It surrounds a hexagram, a symbol used by many civilisations from the past, also exposing the symbols of earth, air, fire and water, the classical elements referring to ancient beliefs inspired by natural observation of the phases of matter.
All to be contemplated in this magical place.
